Do you settle for a copy of > last night's full > dump? > Yes, but you don't take it in front of a criminal court, except as supporting evidence. It is admissible, as a computer record made in the course of normal business. Would I take it, as sole evidence, to a civil court? Probably not. To an industrial tribunal (to justify sacking the miscreant)? Probably. Just my opinion. What action the company requires is always going to be a consideration in the depth and rigour of any forensic work. However, it was pointed out to me that in English legal system, although enforcement is rare, anybody who knows a crime has been committed is obliged to reports it to the authorities. Apologies to those in jurisdictions that don't differentiate between differing judicial areas in quite the same way. - -- Matthew Pemble, Principal Consultant, IS Integration, Preston Technology Management Centre, Marsh Lane, PRESTON, Lancashire, PR1 8UQ Mobile: +44 (0)7050 128620 Tel: +44 (0)1324 820690 Fax: +44 (0)1324 826034 Head Office: Tel: +44 (0)1772 885850 Fax: +44 (0)1772 558881 Mailto:mpembleat_private Web: http://www.isintegration.com This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and are intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
