Problem is, this issue is one that has been addressed by Manufacturers "once upon a time" Things like dump ( remember that one? Multiple volumes? Errr...... ;-) on Unix and "Standalone Backup" on VMS. For some of us old timers, the lack of such a tool in NT was a bit of a surprise, considering how much of NT shows it's parentage. Of course, some non-OS aligned tool would be more useful, but if such things are available ( and you can trust that they work correctly ) then I can't see much problem using them. Of course the proof of the pudding is in the eating, but I've had to restore from dumps on many occasions and found it reliable. In court it might be more problematical because the tools were often closed source, but a consideration, yes? My AUD .02 Regards, tom. __________________________________________________ Security Consultant/Analyst CSC Ph: +61 8 9429 6478 Email: tcleary2at_private ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This email, including any attachments, is intended only for use by the addressee(s) and may contain confidential and/or personal information and may also be the subject of legal privilege.
