Hi all, Reading the excellent paper "Secure Deletion of Data from Magnetic and Solid-State Memory" by Peter Gutmann (http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/secure_del.html) I started to wonder if anyone here has put these methods to the test (recover data), and furthermore if anyone attempted (or succeeded, for that matter) to build a scanning-tunneling microscope from scratch (following this method, perhaps: http://sxm4.uni-muenster.de/stm-en/) and recover data with it. IMHO, a properly understood and handled tool such as this would be an invaluable addition to any forensic analyst's toolkit. -- Best regards, Razvan mailto:bugtraqat_private ----------------------------------------------------------------- This list is provided by the SecurityFocus ARIS analyzer service.
