This message is to announce a meeting to discuss various aspects of computer forensics tools. Discussion will include commercially and publicly available software, operating systems, hardware platforms, and the 'computer forensics process'.

The focus group will take place in Reston, VA on Friday the 27th of September. The discussion will begin promptly at 1:00 Eastern time and is expected to last approximately 4 hours. The gathering is informal, and lunch (Pizza and soda) will be provided. There is no cost to attend.

The meeting is open to any interested parties, however seating is limited. In the event that interest exceeds the available seating, preference will be given to persons currently employed (directly or on contract) by a state or federal law-enforcement agency. Although participants should be familiar with the acquisition and analysis of digital evidence, persons of all experience and skill levels are welcomed.

If sufficient interest is generated, a summary of the proceedings will be made available to interested parties.

Those desiring to participate should send e-mail with the subject "Focus Group" to opensourceat_private and/or forensicstoolsat_private prior to the 26th. Questions may be directed to either address.
