Not sure this is a solution to compiling the LSM patches, but it's pretty good. 2.4.5 compiles perfectly well without the LSM patches (already ran my benchmarks against it.) The problem is local to LSM (and other patches that have already made it into the "virgin kernel"). Running kernel ON kernel is a good idea, for testing some things, but the objective is to get a running kernel from boot... although having a "safety net" vis-a-vis(with regard to) an underlying kernel would sure save me time.
