    UML is restricted to a user mode *LINUX*.
    
    IBM's CP/67 (which became VM) was designed for testing OS/MVT, and I've
    personally used VM to run OS/VS1 and MUSIC images.
    
    I do believe VMWARE will run a Microsoft operating system - that's a big
    market differentiation from UML - and probably requires different kernel
    support.
