Are you sure that SMP is the problem?  IIRC, you could recompile the
kernel and force it to non-SMP mode (with LSM installed).

If it works non-SMP, and doesn't work SMP, then you've proved that
using SMP is the problem.  And clearly, if it doesn't work in SMP mode,
that _needs_ fixing.
