Actually, I just tried applying the posted authoritative hook patch against the newest WireX BitKeeper tree, which corresponds to lsm_2001_08_16 against 2.4.9. It appeared to apply cleanly, so you don't have to go through the contortions above, and I don't have to regenerate the patch for 2.4.9. -- Stephen D.
