    Good point.  Side effects are nasty, and my experience from Janus was
    that I underestimated how much trouble they would cause.  Do you know
    of places where are side effects in dangerous places?  Maybe we ought
    to be looking to see whether we can eradicate those side effects, or do
    something to reduce the likelihood of subtle bugs.
