We believe that privacy and access
to information are basic human rights.

Isn't there an apparent contradiction here? The more information I have
about you, the less privacy you have. No doubt these folks are defining
both privacy and access to information in a way that avoids the conflict,
but the plainly stated combination sure sounds hard to reconcile.
