What's going on here is simpler: The Congresscritters in question are members of the House and Senate Judiciary committees. That means they get a lot of money from the copyright-owner lobby (b/c Judiciary writes copyright laws), and lots of money from ATLA (b/c Judiciary does other, different things that ATLA cares about, including writing tort-reform laws). Its donations are probably there to oppose tort reform, arbitration, and other attacks on the rights of the injured; I doubt it has much if anything to do with this nonsense. ALEX R.
