She had wanted to make the documents public, saying it was her job, and caused a ruckus about the shredding: <http://www.mirror-guardian.com/to/cityhall/story/1081894p-1290811c.html> Why were they kept secret? Shredded? Might have something to do with the fact that the Mayor's son sits on the board of director's of one of the companies bidding on the project. This was recently found *not* to be the case, however one wonders how a complete investigation can be made in the absence of full documentation! <http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1052251634278&call_pageid=968332188492&col=968793972154> Toronto Mayor Mel Lastman is a running joke here in Canada. Even Jon Stewart's Daily Show picked up on his personality, calling him "a dick" with reference to his effusive reaction to the WHO's travel ban to his SARS problem. Now, he seems to be adding evil and vindictive to his public persona, as well as being widely regarded as a fool. Blame Canada. -- Neil Schwartzman - Editor & Publisher peteMOSS Publications, Industry & Trade Journals <http://spamFLAMES.com><http://peteMOSS.com> spamNEWS is now a daily BLOG & RSS Feed: <http://spamnews.com/blog/> -------------------------------------------------------------------- "Internet access providers, companies that engage in the business of connecting people to the Internet for profit ... assume the role of Internet censors, arbitrarily closing accounts of those of whom they disapprove." - Martha (C&S) Siegel --------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- POLITECH -- Declan McCullagh's politics and technology mailing list You may redistribute this message freely if you include this notice. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe to Politech: http://www.politechbot.com/info/subscribe.html This message is archived at http://www.politechbot.com/ Declan McCullagh's photographs are at http://www.mccullagh.org/ Like Politech?
