Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ) led the round, which included participated from its associated fund DFJePlanet, Stanford University, and InVision Technologies. This round included $1 million in debt financing that converted into equity. The proceeds from the round will be used to commercialize the company's portal system. In addition to the financing, John Fisher, managing director at DFJ, has joined the board. As a result of its strategic investment, InVision will be the exclusive distributor of the portal systems in commercial aviation and airport markets in the U.S. and Europe. The portal system transmits ultra-high frequency, low powered radar waves as people pass through the portal. The waves penetrate clothing and reflect off of the person's skin and any items being carried. A sensor array captures the reflected waves and uses a desktop computer to analyze the information and produce a high-resolution, 3-D image from the signals. SafeView holds an exclusive license to commercialize the holographic technology from Battelle, which manages the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory for the Department of Energy. http://www.safe-view.com John W.
