My client is a manufacturer in the Intrusion Detection space. They are in need of a Pre-Sales Engineer in the NY/NJ area. Compensation is open and negotiable and they would prefer not to relocate someone. Sales Engineer This individual will be a key member of a growing sales team. The Sales Engineer will work closely with an Account Manager to present a network security solution to prospects and provide technical guidance during evaluations. The Sales Engineer will own the technical relationship with the prospect. Responsibilities Pre-sales technical support of direct and channel sales efforts. Daily activities may include demonstrations, RFP responses, evaluation monitoring. Be the team player to work with the Account Managers and Customer Support to attain and retain happy customers. A Sales Engineer is the prime technical contact point for assigned accounts, and is viewed by the customer as the Trusted Advisor or Advocate. Assist customers by assisting to define requirements, review intrusion protection designs, and provide continued advisement. Must be self-driven, confident, and effective at setting priorities and managing tasks. Qualifications 5+ years as a pre-sales engineer in the software technology field. Strong technical skills, including operating system, security, and networking. Superior presentation and communication skills. Good maturity and ability to deal at senior levels with technical leaders. Working knowledge of Linux or Unix operating systems. Working knowledge of Internet Protocols. Familiarity with network security desired.
