UKERNA is responsible for the development and
maintenance of JANET, the UK academic and
research network, which provides a national network
and advanced IT communication facilities for further
and higher education organisations and research
council establishments. JANET also provides its
customers with high speed access to the Internet.
Pleasantly situated in rural Oxfordshire, within easy
commuting distance of Didcot, Abingdon and
Wantage, the company offers a friendly, hard-

    active social calendar.

JANET CERT is a team of six that is responsible for
providing computer security support to the 700
institutions that are connected to the network around
the United Kingdom. The CERT provides information

including supporting institutions that have been
    compromised.

    About the job

The CERT is an active team with a highly demanding

in the Service Level Agreement are met or exceeded.
The CERT Manager is also responsible for ensuring
that regular reporting is carried out on the delivery of
the service and that the processes and tools used
within the team are continually developed. This role
will suit someone who enjoys working with people
and leading a busy and specialised team.

An ability to gain respect and co-operation of
technical and managerial staff at institutions
connected to JANET and with the staff of UKERNA's
    major partners and peer organisations.
Knowledge of computer security, plus experience of
working within such an environment and a track-
record of success in computer security work.
