I normally don't allow virus posts through the list as they seldom represent a new threat, just a new example of an already existing one, but this one is getting enough play to warrant a message. There is a new Word macro virus circulating called Melissa. The virus propagates via email. Attached to the email is a Word file that when opened will launch a macro that will send the same message to the first 50 recipients of your Outlook address book. The subject line is "important Message From <some user name>". The body consist of the text "Here is that document you asked for... don't show anyone else;-)". The infected documents contains passwords to porn web sites. For more information check out: http://vil.mcafee.com/vil/vm10120.asp As this thing is emailing itself to everyone under the sun virus vendors should have no problem obtaining copies to analyze. If anyone wants a copy send me a message. -- Aleph One / aleph1at_private http://underground.org/ KeyID 1024/948FD6B5 Fingerprint EE C9 E8 AA CB AF 09 61 8C 39 EA 47 A8 6A B8 01
