I spoke with Jeff Moss (the organizer of BlackHat) for a bit about putting together these sorts of talks. I would be interested in helping get something small together for Portland/Seattle/Eugene. It would be hard to get that same kind of "critical" mass that Defcon gets, but I think a small Blackhat-ish kind of 2 or 3 day event could happen. There's definately enough local talent to get some interesting talks together. -Esteban On Wed, 7 Aug 2002, Andrew Plato wrote: > Yeah, I wanted to go this year, but as usual I was loaded down with customer work and couldn't get away. Anitian started building plans to do a "Pacific Northwest Security Summit" last year, but abandoneded it because it was just too expensive and time consuming. Opting instead for smaller, sponsored seminars. Maybe the time is ripe to do an Oregon version of DefCon/BlackHat? > > ------------------------------------ > Andrew Plato, CISSP > President / Principal Consultant > Anitian Corporation > > (503) 644-5656 office > (503) 201-0821 cell > http://www.anitian.com > ------------------------------------ > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: Jordan Gackowski [mailto:jgackowski@private] > > Sent: Wednesday, August 07, 2002 8:50 AM > > To: crime@private > > Subject: RE: CRIME BlackHat and DefCon > > > > > > > > Well... the naked women can be attributed to Vegas in > > general - so go any time you feel like it. > > > > However, DefCon is the best bargain out there.
