I don't know what the tool was that was mentioned before, but Hyena http://www.systemtools.com/hyena/ is the tool that many network admins use to gather this kind of information. It requires the appropriate level of access on the network and the systems. It has great reporting capability once you figure out how to make it work. You need to be careful with the newer versions though. If you have a high level of permissions, you can actually make network changes with it.
