-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 All, I'm posting this from another computer forensics list serve to make sure anyone interested in testing computer forensic tools knows about what we're doing. As the message below says, during an evening session at Techno-Security focused on testing forensic tools, a group of us decided to put together a list serve to better handle communications among us in regard to that subject without clogging up the other lists we all monitor. If you want to play an active part in developing test specifications; testing tools under controlled, lab conditions; and helping to make our collection of forensic tools better for us all, please feel free to subscribe to the list. If you'd rather not play an active part in testing, know that we intend to publish our results through at least 5 list serves, including this one, so you won't miss out on getting the results. To that end, I have created cfttat_private (Computer Forensics Tool Testing). The goal is to have a discussion group of people who are interested in knowing, via repeatable testing, the strengths and limitation of software used in computer forensic examinations. The group will come up with and use testing methodologies for both acquisition tools and examination tools. The purpose of this new group is not to supplant any of the existing computer forensics listservs, but to keep discussions about this single topic in one place where they won't interfere with traffic on the other lists. Significant test results from CFTT will be cross posted so that those not interested in participating in developing and implementing testing methodologies can still share in the results. Since the goal of CFTT is open testing of tools, the group is open to anyone interested in the topic. To subscribe, go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cftt (you must be a member of Yahoo Groups to sign up- to sign up, go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/). Since I am not a member of IACIS or HTCIA, I ask that someone who is forward this message to those groups (only once please!). Best Regards, Doug Rehman Rehman Technology Services, Inc.
