    	Just grab your camera and start taking out screws.  The worst that
    can happen is that you'll take out too many screws.  The camera's so you
    can keep track of how it disassembled so you can reassemble it later.
    I've done it with all kinds of laptops and other electronic devices.  No
    horror stories here.
    
    	Personally, based on the experience you describe with Hitachi, I
    sincerely doubt I'll *EVER* buy one of those beasts.  Any company that
    can't release even basic functional diagrams of its products for customer
    maintenance is hopelessly out of step with reality and I'd never want to
    be cursed with their products.
