    Perl provides an excellent facility for this.  Perl is
    free from ActiveState, and there are plenty of scripts
    available that will give examples of how to retrieve
    the EventLogs.  
    
    One such script is 'dumpevt.pl' available from
    http://patriot.net/~carvdawg/perl.html
