I've written a couple of Perl-based frameworks for "generic" (for various definitions of "generic") parsing of log messages, but always just for very specific implementations. I had been meaning to extend that to a more universal implementation for a while, but I just haven't had the time, and then Marcus Ranum announced that he was working on something similar so I shelved my work; I was just talking to him last week, however, and he confirmed that that project is dead in the water because of IP issues (the legal, not network, kind). So I just thought I'd ping folks and see if anyone else was working on something like this. If folks are interested, I'll gladly contribute advice/commentary (and potentially even some Perl code samples, although I'll have to clear some of that against other IP isssues of my own), but I wouldn't be able to devote any real time to the effort until probably next year at the earliest. So, is anyone working (or interested in working) on a framework for something like this? -- Sweth. -- Sweth Chandramouli Idiopathic Systems Consulting svcat_private http://www.idiopathic.net/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: loganalysis-unsubscribeat_private For additional commands, e-mail: loganalysis-helpat_private
