Hi, I see that a lot of low-level network plugins (e.g. icmp_leak.nasl) use 6 attempts when sending a packet. This matches the Linux kernel's retries for SYNs and also nmap's retries for SYN scan. I just wondered what the basis for using 6 was? Does it really give significantly better results than using three?
