I should clarify one point. I (and some of the reports I forwarded) said
the DMCA was one of the claims in the suit. That's incorrect. It was one of
the points made in the lawyer nastygram
    (http://interz0ne.com/events/interz0ne_cease_order.html) but it was not
part of the complaint and therefore not considered by the judge in granting
    the injunction.

One of the panels scheduled for Interz0ne 2 was an update to Acidus'
"Campuswide System Vulnerabilities" talk, given at both Interz0ne I
and PhreakNIC6 last year. The updated talk, which was to include demos
of the vulnerabilities discussed, was cancelled on the advice of legal
    counsel.

The convention organizers received "Cease and Desist" email late Friday
night, which was an electronic version of hardcopy delivered to the
convention Saturday morning via FedEx. Copies of the C&D text are on
    the Interz0ne website:

    http://interz0ne.com/events/interz0ne_cease_order.html

The FedEx packages that arrived Saturday morning were addressed to
"Interz0ne: convention chair" and "Virgil - code poet"; I'm rather
curious as to how the SAB lawyers decided upon the latter.

The FedEx package to Virgil also contained a restraining order against
him and Acidus, in addition to the C&D. The RO had no judicial
    signature,
but a signed copy was delivered to the convention by courier and served
    Saturday afternoon.

The originally scheduled panel was replaced by a reading of the C&D
letter to Interz0ne convention attendants as an explanation as to why
the panel was cancelled. Then Rock1t, Acidus, Virgil and I left the
convention room, per legal advice, and we have been instructed to
reply "no comment" wrt further questions on this incident.

There is some confusion as to whether or not I am actually affected
by the C&D, as I am convention co-chair, but for now we are erring
    on the side of caution.

The initial court hearing will be at 8:30am, 14 April 2003. We will
probably be requesting a continuance so that we may obtain official
legal representation in this case and have an opportunity to consult
    with our attorneys.

The se2600.org website, mailing lists and IRC channel, as well as the
NLUG website and mailing list, are neither owned nor administered by
    Rock1t, Acidus, Virgil or myself.

Note - In order to determine whether or not the C&D and RO were actually
observed, Blackboard/SAB would have had to have had someone attending
    the convention, correct?
