This is just a guess, but here goes: Windows 95 and 98 use the same type of DOS as you could buy stand-alone many, many years ago (like DOS 6.22). Windows NT 4.0, 2000 and XP all use a DOS emulation, there is no longer a "division" between DOS and the Windows OS, like there was with 95 and 98. It is fairly common for DOS programs that ran under 95 and 98 to have problems with NT 4.0, 2000 and XP. Has to do with the fact that emulation is not the same thing as the original. Hope this information helps. -Robert -----Original Message----- From: lsi [mailto:stuartat_private] Sent: Saturday, January 18, 2003 7:19 AM To: secprogat_private Subject: PGP scripting (reprise) Hi folks, A brilliant thread. Whilst in the process of implementing a PGP-based solution, I have discovered that PGP 2.6.3i for DOS is not compatible with Windows NT 4.0. Can anyone confirm/deny this? When I run it (simply 'PGP' with no parameters), it beeps twice and exits without displaying anything onscreen. Under W2K, it beeps twice and displays "for a usage summary.." (as expected). Works fine under W98. Any clues? I was hoping to stick with 2.6.3i, as I trust it.
