POSITION TYPE Permanent LOCATION Hong Kong START DATE ASAP as @ 01/11/2001 THE POSITION Reporting to the Regional Manager, the position will be to guide the S/W and H/W development team (in a "hands-on" capacity) in developing a new generation of wireless products for the payments / communications markets. The Product Development Team is currently 6 strong with external resource called onto projecs as required. The most important attribute of the successful candidate will be experience in directing a team of hardware and software engineers in bringing new products to the market. The successful candidate will be; - focussed, - have a positive "can-do" attitude, - be highly flexible and a lateral thinker, - be able and willing to discuss concepts openly. KEY QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE The most capable candidate for this position should have; - an understanding of modular system design approaches, - an understanding of the software issues related to the porting of communication protocols, - knowledge of software issues in the embedded sector (i.e. aware of resource limitation problems, timing issues, critical sections), - knowledge of peripheral chip programming (ie. passive UART timers/watchdogs, I2C, HDLC), - knowledge of controller programming (ie. DMA controllers, interrupt controllers, memory controllers), - familiarity with "target debugging" (be it via development board debugger like Lauterbach, or via in-circuit emulator and tracking down memory inconsistencies or deadlocks) - familiarity with development tools apart from cross compiler and target/in circuit debugger (ie. revision control system, different editors), - experience with more than one platform in general (ie. multiple microcontrollers, more than one DMA communication controller, several debuggers, and more than one desktop operating system).
