Job Purpose: Reporting to the Communications Manager the Communications Consultant will be a specialist in varying electronic communication skills covering Wide Area, Local Area, Voice and Vision networking protocols and technologies. Responsibilities include deploying communications solutions, locally, regionally or globally in conjunction with external/internal suppliers. As a member of a team, the specialist would provide expertise in a number of the disciplines required. Operational environment covers the EMEAA region and incorporates approximately 9,500 users in 20 countries, with backbone connectivity to the rest of the global network connecting in over 15,000 users Principle Accountabilities: * The consultant will be expected to design and project manage the delivery of communications infrastructure solutions to meet the needs of the customer/business within the EMEAA region, in-line with Group infrastructure standards * Identify improvement/value opportunities within the operational environment in conjunction with the Group IT organisation. * Supervise/manage external/internal suppliers in the delivery of services/solutions to world class and Group IT infrastructure standards. * Integrate the communications infrastructures of new businesses within the group of companies, within region. * Capacity monitoring and planning of Wide Area Networks, Local Area Networks, Voice switches, Voice Mail and Call Logging. * Responsibility for the provision and supply external data feeds and interconnect links, such as Internet (incl. VPN), EDI, Fax, Telex, and any other external electronic communications links. * Deploy, manage and maintain the communications components of the Group Perimeter Security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, DMZs, internet traffic analysis systems, etc. * Researches, tests, evaluates and recommends network options and technologies, in conjunction with external suppliers/partners where appropriate.
