    Entercept Security Technologies, the leader in host intrusion prevention software, is actively recruiting to fill the position of Vice President of Product Development.  The VP of Product Development will inherit an organization comprised of forty (40) professionals with jurisdiction over:
    
    * Engineering
    * Quality Assurance
    * Sustaining Engineering
    * Project Management
    * Security Research 
    
    Entering Entercept, our new leader is faced with three primary and concurrent charters:
    
    * Manage and lead Entercept's Development and Engineering organization in their effort  to maintain current and create future product releases.  
    * Direct Entercept's product strategy & extension road map through working closely with Marketing, Product Management, Services and Technology 
    * Actively participate in setting the technical & corporate strategic direction as part of the senior management team.
    
    1(a).	Product Development: Complete responsibility for all product development around Entercept's product lines, including core technologies, architecture, features, and R&D efforts.  
    
    Responsibilities:
    * Resource and schedule new product development.
    *  Manage engineering teams to achieve on-time and high-quality product deliveries.
    * Provide technical input into product strategy and definition of new product specifications.
    * Effectively manage and heighten the quality  of sustaining engineering  functions.
    * Support new platforms, such as HP-UX and IBM AIX. 
    * To evolve the product architecture to be fully competitive in the future. 
    * Provide strategic vision to help identify new technologies and opportunities
    
    1(b).	Management: Develop and lead a strong, responsive & flexible organization conducive to delivering high quality products on time and within budget.
    Duties:
    * Conduct an overall assessment of core development - practices for optimizing the group's operating structure, personnel and deliverables. 
    * Assume fundamental engineering management duties; i.e. setting technical vision, creating & maintaining time schedules, setting & driving specifications, managing budgets, directing and reviewing employees, establishing and fostering inter-departmental interfaces & controls, etc.
    * Develop and optimize all management programs and processes as related to product development. 
    * Foster management development responsibility within your staff for product direction, design and technical development.
    * Grow engineering organization according to plan, focus on mission-critical functional areas such as Sustaining engineering. Current growth plan: 50% per annum - based on revenue goals of $17-$18M in revenue by end of 2002. 
    
    2.	Product Roadmap: Competitively assess and optimize Entercept's product roadmap with creativity and vision.
    Responsibilities:
    * Oversee the strategic development of the Entercept product portfolio 
    * Direct Entercept's product strategy & extension road map timeline
    * Build and lead Entercept's research and development organization
    * Work closely with Marketing, Sales & Services on product development roadmaps to meet customer and time-to-market requirements.
    * Provide leadership in setting and meeting long-term Engineering objectives for products and services. 
    
    3.	Strategic Direction: Set technical direction and vision for Entercept. 
    Duties: 
    * Act as technical focal point for product management, business development & marketing, technical services 
    * Ensure effective information communication between the development group and all of Entercept departments; i.e. marketing, sales, customer support and various other company disciplines.
    * Interact with Executive team, BOD, customers, and industry as "Technology CTO" 
    * Review potential strategic technology partner relationships or M&A opportunities to further Entercept roadmap.
    
    Skills & Knowledge:
    * Proven track record of developing products from concept to delivery.
    * Successful management of small and large development teams in a world class software company.
    * Multi-platform development experience, solid project management skills,  product life cycle skills and quality methodologies are all desired.  
    * Engineering department optimization experience would be extremely advantageous. 
    * Understanding of contemporary computer software & web architectures, web applications and development methodologies and tools.
    * Technical , interpersonal and organizational skills with a business acumen.
    * Ability to succinctly express thoughts and processes both verbally and in writing.
    * Mastery of enterprise software computing.
    * Proficiency in security technologies and contemporary security issues a plus.
    * Requires BS Engineering (MBA strongly preferred).
    
    In summary, we require a charismatic and experienced development leader who can gain the confidence of Entercept as an organization, BOD, customers and investors alike. Someone to become an integral member of the Entercept Sr. Management Team of executives. Proven capability in several areas associated specifically with our Entercept challenge is required along with an overall corporate management contribution.
    
    Personality and team synergy are certainly arbitrary areas; however, extremely important! Our top team must operate with uttermost unity, and highly focused upon common corporate goals. This arbitrary parameter can only be judged during future personal meetings and punctuated in previous corporate performances.
