     MISSION:		
    The Senior Security Engineer is responsible for the security of United 
    Online networks.  This person will be a technical, hands-on person who 
    can perform vulnerability assessments on networks and systems, make 
    recommendations for improving security, and actually implement those 
    recommendations.  This person will also be responsible for the design, 
    administration, and operation of network firewalls.  This person will 
    also be a member of our incident response team and provide support for 
    our authentication systems.
    
    TECHNICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:		
    1. At least 3 years of experience configuring and maintaining firewalls.
    2.  Familiarity with common industry scanning tools, including nmap, 
    nessus, retina, CIS Scoring Tools, tcpdump, etc.
    3. Understanding of Unix security issues. 
    4. Experience administering and maintaining an ACE server.
    5. Strong understanding of networking, including routers, switches, 
    TCP/IP, public/private networks, IPSec, and VPN.
    6. B.S. in computer science or electrical engineering required.
    7. GIAC Certified Firewall Analyst (GCFW) required.
    8. Familiarity with best practices surrounding security incident 
    response. GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) desired.
    9. CISSP desired.
    10.  Ability to write policies and procedures; prioritize work and meet 
    deadlines; communicate technical information orally and in writing in 
    terms understandable to diverse groups.
    
    DUTIES:
    1. Take a leadership role and provide technical direction on firewalls.
    2. Conduct network risk assessments, audits, and vulnerability scans.
    3. Participate in the incident response team and coordinate any security 
    incidents involving applications.
    4. Recommend standards and policies governing the security of firewall 
    and IDS development, deployment, and operation. 
    5. Assess the severity of newly discovered security vulnerabilities.
    6. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
