Well, to be blunt that's a far better series of qualifications than I had
when I came into the industry. Before moving into software devlepment and
founding a security company (gone now, purchased by Network Associates) I
worked as a Labour Union representitive. I argued for employees, led job
actions and generaly did absolutely nothing with computers except punch
out on a GE Time punch machine (vaguely computerish....).

I got into the industry by starting my own company and allowing myself to
build my knowledge base at the sufferance of my own success or failure.
I've been here for five years and still love it.

Neither was I really. But I managed to become so over time and was lucky.
Nobody starts out entirely proficient, this should not be something to
disuade you from starting in the industry.

Yes, they are typically referred to as product managers or product
marketing managers in the software end ofhte industry. The interface
between upper management and development teams. The title conventions and
semantics depend on the organization at the end of the day though.

Start your own company and keep going until you succeed or fail miserably.

    Cheers,
