David, Just so that people don't get confused, I think you are quoting what a Security Consulting Firms charge customers, right? The numbers I was quoting, and discussing were Consultant's "bill rates", mainly through Agencies. For example I was billed out at $250/hr once (that I know of) for an entire network and systems upgrade (had to be a Project Manager to plan the whole thing, and to time the critical paths so that everything would go smoothly, AND had to have the technical knowledge to do that actual Solaris, Cisco IOS, Gauntlet, etc. upgrades). BUT I didn't actually GET the $250/hr, the Agency took their 40% scalp or whatever they took. I assume from your "group reply" that you, like me, don't mind addressing the whole group on this topic, and your Input is gratefully accepted. Just didn't want newbies to be confused about the two different kind of rates being Discussed. If we really wanted to be thorough we would also need to break down 'Bill Rates" to W2 and 1099 (or corp-to-corp). I suppose in some cases the President or CEO of the firm might actually take the entire Bill Rate for himself, but that would ignore overhead. I see $175 - $250/hr pretty consisitently. As for sal, enrty level here is 75k - 95k, as your experience rises so does the money. 5+ years I see 125k and up depending on your area of expertise. ######################## #################### David Barnett Cap Gemini Enrst & Young Global Operate - America Security / UNIX Architect O 312-356-2895 M 312-282-2088 F 312-356-2895 #################### ####################### The information contained in this communication is intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom it is addressed and others authorized to receive it.
