Recovering data off a harddrive is a very technical issue with many
variables. Things that have to be considered.
      How did the server die?
      Does the harddrive click?
      Does it spin up?
What type of drive is it (SCSI, EIDE, etc. etc)

Since the data sounds incredibly important I would recommend a
professional data recovery service, just google you'll find plenty. I
think someone else on this post already mentioned a particular company.

If the hard drive is spinning AND YOU WANT TO TAKE THE RISK, you can
always try out the cheap software alternative. Remember I said RISK. It is
possible that you can damage the drive even more by using software that
will cause the hard drive to work excessively.
Now with that out of the way there are many software alternative but my
    personal favorite is this one.
    http://63.141.194.5/
It's a home grown app that does the job well and its free. I've used it
to recover data off of EIDI, DMA and SCSI drives with all versions of FAT
and NTFS filesystems (including XP). Heck I've even used it to recover
data off of my digital camera compact flash card.

So that's all I got, Use it at your own risk. If the data is important
    pay for the service.
